I have not nor I will ever donate to the Komen Foundation. Why? is what I want to know. What causes this Beast Within to suck the life out of our loved ones leaving them beyond hope. Cure? HA! One drug after another, one radiation series after another. Nothing helps. Our daughter is gone, we grieve everyday and night while they run around in all their pink spandex, wear pink bracelets and make money hand over fist.

It is insane to remove health care from women over political pressure. You have a public record of being pro women's health. So prove it. Stand up now.

Or, consider joining Dr Love's Army of Women: http://www.dslrf.org/army/

Excellent commentary. As you noted, “if the U.S. is serious about implementing the NAP, one good place to start would be in our own military,” particularly where a 2011 survey found that one in five women serving in the U.S. Air Force were victims of sexual assault (See, http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Military/2011/0317/Exclusive-1-in-5-Air-Force-women-victim-of-sexual-assault-survey-finds ) and at home spousal abuse rates are higher in the military than in civilian life. As National Director of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, (WILPF), we heard statistics such as these articulated from nearly 400 women across the U.S. during WILPF sponsored consultations with U.S. Department of State representatives on the creation of the Women, Peace and Security NAP. The message from the women who participated in the five consultations was clear: increased military spending and armed conflict does NOT constitute greater “security” for women at home or abroad. WILPF’s final report from the consultations included 64 recommendations for the U.S. NAP’s compliance with UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security. (See, http://www.peacewomen.org/pages/about-1325) To see the final report go to
