The Heresies Collective was a group of women who published Heresies; A Feminist Publication on Art and Politics from 1977-1992. Heresies explored a wide range of topics from an outside the box radical feminist perspective in a way that broke boundaries, made you think, rocked your world and created a safe space all at the same time.

I first encountered Heresies as a young woman just starting to figure out who I was and what I was about and it gave me on numerous occasions the courage and context to name my own truths. It was an incredibly valuable contribution to the ongoing and evolving dialog taking place during the years in which it was published.

Now Joan Braderman, a member of the collective, has produced a film, The Heretics, that documents its story.  The film will debut at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City on Oct. 9.
