Do-Gooder Misogyny Alive and Well
I’m sure the good folks (whoever they are since they don’t tell us their names on their website) at World Peace Emerging have the best of intentions (although their assertion that they empower people without more specifics is a bit worrisome), but of the seven people listed on their “The New Who’s Who“, only one was a woman and at that they name one woman but describe her mother’s accomplishments!
The woman listed is Wanjira Maathai whom they describe as the winner of the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize. Almost, but not quite. Wanjira Maathai “is the international liaison for the world-renowned Green Belt Movement which was founded by her mother,” Wangari Maathai, who is the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize.
