You know the drill–if it’s October, you’re supposed to buy lots of pepto pink stuff to raise money for “THE CURE” for breast cancer. Not that the whole concept isn’t offensive, but last year we found a number of items that were in seriously bad taste. See here and here. So far this year, Delta Airlines gets my vote for the largest (literally) pink offense.

Where did they get that car?? And check out the matching flight attendant’s uniform!

Oh and they serve pink lemonade too (of course you have to pay for it).
It’s all for a good cause but wouldn’t it be just a tad less self-serving to make a donation instead of the look at us, we’re good guys cuz we are PINK, never mind our contributions to global warming schtick? Because make no mistake about it, all this pink stuff isn’t just for a good cause, it’s good for the bottom line. And lookee here, you can also make money selling branded pink stuff to corporations:

Please feel free to send us your favorite in poor taste pink contenders, we’ll try to get them posted here. And here’s a great way to take action against one particularly annoying pink product, courtesy of the good folks at Breast Cancer Action (via Our Bodies Our Blog):
“One pinked-out product you’ve probably noticed is Yoplait yogurt. Yoplait makes a 10-cent donation to a breast cancer organization for every pink lid consumers mail back to the company. Let’s put that in real terms: If you ate three yogurts a day for the four-month duration of the campaign (and sent in all your lids), your donation would equal $36. That’s a lot of yogurt — and not all that much money.
But what’s more troubling is what’s underneath the lid — the yogurt itself might not be that good for your health.
Yoplait yogurt is made with milk from cows that have been injected with a synthetic hormone called recombinant bovine growth hormone (referred to as rBGH or rBST). There are a number of health concerns surrounding the use of rBGH, and breast cancer is one of them.”
Seeing red? Take action right now:
“This October, we’re asking General Mills — the maker of Yoplait — to do the right thing for women’s health: We’re urging them to go rBGH-free. You can help by sending an e-mail to General Mills telling them to put a lid on rBGH. After all, corporate conscience belongs in a company’s products, not just its marketing.”
Click that link, let’s quit putting up with this self-serving garbage before it kills us.
