Telling It Like It Is–Outstanding Comment Re: Culture of Impugnity That Allows Honor Killings
Commenting about the lack of action to stop honor killings in Iraqi Kurdistan, Roonak Faraj, head of the Women’s Media and Cultural Center in Sulaimaniya had this to say,
“When bird flu broke out, the government launched a huge campaign to make people aware of the risks of the disease,” he said. “You wonder why they can’t launch a similar campaign to put an end to the killing women.”
What he said.

I wondered about that but the article quoted specifically referred to this person as “he”, so I assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that was correct.
