Feminist Peace Network

Seems like every time I turn around, some misogynist moron is demanding to know what the feminists are doing about this, that or the other issue. Well here’s a newsflash–we are up to our eyeballs dealing with so many issues it would make your head spin. But see here’s the deal, we do it while wearing a cloak of invisibility, a point well-illustrated by this Media Matters Press Release.

While it is nice to see the uproar about Chris Matthews’ sexist spew get recognition from Media Matters, it is sure the heck not helpful when they totally invisibilize us as they have done with this headline: “Progressive Leaders, Media Speak Out Against Matthews“. If you scroll down their list of media mentions of the controversy in the article that follows–funny thing, almost all the cites/sites are authored by women, a number of them well known feminists.

A better headline might have read “Pissed off thinking women and a few male allies speak out against Matthews”.
