DOJ Doesn’t Give a Sh*t that Women Working for KBR were Sexually Attacked by their Co-Workers

For anyone who has a shred of doubt that the waging of war exacerbates misogynist violence, the testimony given to the House Judiciary Committee yesterday in response to Jamie Leigh Jones’ allegations against KBR should convince you.  Houston KHOU Channel 11 reports that,

““It is interesting to note that the Department of Justice has thousands of lawyers. But not one from the barrage of lawyers is here to tell us what if anything they are doing,â€? said Houston Republican congressman Ted Poe. Their absence and silence speaks volumes about the hidden crimes in Iraq.”

Crimes, that Jones is determined to publicize as federal prosecutors admit they finally opened an investigation into her case.

Poe said three women, including Tracy Barker, who submitted written testimony of her account to the committee and was at the hearing — contacted him.

Ten others reported their stories through a foundation Jones began to help women with similar experiences.”

Yes that is right, the DOJ felt that it was inappropriate to send anyone to testify in the face of numerous reports of sexual violence and harassment being committed against women employed by a company that is employed by the U.S. to make us safer from terrorists.  Oh wait, I forgot, rapists aren’t terrorists

KHOU also reports that, “Since then, 11News has learned three other women sued KBR for similar assaults.”  Sigh, if they only read this blog. The New York Times carried the story and we noted it on this blog on July 2, 2007.
