It Takes Balls to Fight Breast Cancer

Kudos to Vivirlatino for catching this one, check out the ball in question on their site:

“The 10th to 14th rounds of Mexico’s Opening Tournament will be played with a pink ball instead of the normal white one, to raise awareness that women must explore their breasts in order to detect cancer in its early, treatable stages.
The players will also wear a pink ribbon, the international symbol for awareness of breast cancer, which is the second largest killer of Mexican women accounting for a death every two hours and 20 minutes. The teams will also carry banners reading “Join the fight against breast cancer. The ball is in your court. Explore yourself”.”

We are not even going to speculate about the last sentence, maybe something got lost in translation?

And in the give it a rest department, once again there is a new ’study’ making a link between breast cancer and having an abortion.  It isn’t true, would someone duct tape these idiots.

Lastly, I am getting seriously tired of reading about dessert fundraisers for breast cancer.  This seems so totally inappropriate given that one of the best things you can do to prevent cancer is eat a healthy diet and not be obese.  These events are misguided opportunism and seriously not helpful.
