Dear Friends:

I am at home (with access to email) just for the afternoon & night, and then back to B’ham tomorrow to face the nonsensical rhetoric of OSA:  “At what age is it not ok to tear the arms and legs off a baby?”  And this ridiculous question is screamed about 50 times like a broken record by a demented man holding a bible — then his buddies join in and yell in unison.  They have screamed insulting things about the Civil Rights Movement and about the big “plot” to murder black babies.  They had the nerve to leave the clinic one day singing “We Shall Overcome!”

New Woman, All Women clinic has remained open and seeing patients, despite OSA’s efforts.  But we need you.  They have approximately 200+ folks who have come to spread their lies and hate.  WE NEED CLINIC DEFENSE/ESCORTS EVERY DAY FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK THROUGH SATURDAY.  We need donations to pay for housing, food, and water for the activists who have come to help us.  And we need a BIG CROWD to support our important closing events this Friday (abortion speakout, 5:30-6:30 p.m. at 5 Points South at the Fountain [go up 20th Street to 10th Ave.); and Saturday our rally with a great band and awesome speakers from across the state (including Olga Vives!) from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Kelly Ingram Park, 5th Ave. North and 17th St — then clinic defense!!

OSA went to the women’s clinic in Tusc today, West Alabama Women’s Center, and swarmed clinic property.   The owner called the police, and the result was that SHE was arrested!!  A.P. reports that she “was outside the clinic during a demonstration when an argument began.”  She disobyed officers who told her to go back inside and was arrested.  PLEASE NOTE: OSA DID NOT HAVE A PERMIT — THEY ARRIVED UNANNOUNCED, HELD THEIR DEMONSTRATION ON PRIVATE PROPERTY, WERE TRESPASSING, YET THE CLINIC OWNER WAS ARRESTED AND JAILED.

PLEASE LET TUSCALOOSA CITY OFFICIALS AND NEWSPAPER HEAR FROM YOU — AND COME JOIN OUR STRUGGLE!!
