With all due respect, let me see if I have this straight…we’re all gung ho to spend $360 to provide the HPV vaccine but birth control pills are no longer affordable for those who need them most.  How about a tax on every male in this country for the role they play in this travesty??

“Prices for oral contraceptives, or birth control pills, are doubling and tripling at student health centers, the result of a complex change in the Medicaid rebate law that essentially ends an incentive for drug companies to provide deep discounts to colleges.

“It’s a tremendous problem for our students because not every student has a platinum card,” said Hugh Jessop, executive director of the health center at Indiana University.

There, he said, women are paying about $22 per month for prescriptions that cost $10 a few months ago. “Some of our students have two jobs, have children,” Jessop said. “To increase this by 100 percent or more overnight, which is what happened, is a huge shock to them and to their system.”"

Here is more on Cathy Webster and why she went to jail.

“After she was taken way by the deputies, Lorraine Krofchok, director of Grandmothers for Peace, commented, “I find it amazing that Cathy is going to jail for standing up for human rights while our Congressman, Dan Lungren, votes for torture.â€?”

Peace-loving granny Cathy Webster is going to jail, let’s make sure she gets loads of mail!:

Dear family and friends,In nine days, on March 21, I will report to the Sacramento County Jail for my 60 day sentence for unauthorized trespassing onto military property. I think you all know by now that this is consequence of my action at Ft. Benning Army Base in Columbus, GA last November 19. I participated – along with 22,000 others, including 1000 Grandmothers – in the annual protest and vigil to close down the controversial School of the Americas/Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC) which has been in operation since 1946. Going to a county jail is something new for us federal misdemeanorites. In the past, it has been federal prison or fed. prison camp. I had become familiarized with the Fed. System, but I do not know what to expect from county jails since every one can be different. Not all of us 16 are assigned to county jails, but I am. Conveniently, it is just 2 hours away for my house.

My address will be, should you wish to drop a line. I hope to be able to write back…
